A free evening with a chartered accountant and a mortgage broker. How to stop overpaying tax, and how to turn an ordinary income into assets that pay you back. No sales pitch, no products, just the stuff nobody taught you.

  • Time: 6:30 to 8:30pm, Q&A from 8:30
  • Where: Goodwin Chivas & Co, 29 Solent Circuit, Norwest (parking via Maitland Place)

Most blokes don’t have a money problem.

They have a structure problem. Tax paid on autopilot. Debt repaid in the wrong order. Savings sitting somewhere doing nothing. It rarely comes from a lack of effort, it comes from never being shown how the pieces fit together.

So we’ve put two people who do this for a living in a room for two hours, and you can ask them anything.

Who you’ll hear from

Rob, Chartered Accountant, Goodwin Chivas & Co

The steps you can take to make sure you’re not paying too much tax.

Rob’s parents called him Scrooge growing up, frugality runs in the family. He started out in corporate and personal insolvency, seeing first-hand how finances and businesses come undone, before moving into business services and advisory. He now works with family groups on structuring their tax affairs and setting themselves up for the future, alongside brokers and financial planners. He runs Save Our Budget with his wife, is founding Treasurer of North Kellyville FC, and follows charting and equity markets.

Sean, Mortgage and Finance Broker, BluePebble Loans

Budgeting, debt, leverage, property and shares, the path to retiring early.

Sean bought his first investment property at 24, years before his income made it comfortable. His twenties held a career as a strength and conditioning coach and a run of start-ups that mostly failed, and somewhere in there, a decision not to let someone else’s ceiling cap his income. Nine years ago he established his own boutique brokerage, for first home buyers and people who want to retire early. Now pushing 40 and on that path himself, he isn’t teaching theory.

What you’ll walk out with

  • The places people most often overpay tax, and the structures that fix it
  • A budget that survives contact with real life, and a plan for the debt you already have
  • How brokers and accountants read your numbers before you borrow
  • Where property, shares and leverage fit, and the order to do things in

How the night runs

  • 6:30pm Doors, coffee and a chance to meet the room (parking via Maitland Place)
  • 6:45pm Rob on tax: structures, deductions and the traps
  • 7:35pm Sean on the build: budgeting, debt, leverage, property and shares
  • 8:30pm Open Q&A, stay as long as the questions keep coming

25 seats. That’s the room.

We cap the night at 25 so everyone gets to ask their question. We’re hosted at Goodwin Chivas & Co, 29 Solent Circuit, Norwest, parking is accessible via Maitland Place. Put your name down and we’ll send the details.
